HASGAR'S AMULET

A quest pack for use with HeroQuest.

Written by Markus Sanberg markussandberg@yahoo.com. Please note that this is different from the email address listed on his homepage. He is currently away from home and will be at this email address till 1/99. After that you can email him at the address listed on his homepage.

This quest was originally in German.

Translation Note: This is about as close as I could come to a translation of this module. I don't speak German, so I used the Babelfish program found on AltaVista to translate it, then tried to decipher the mess that this program created into comprehensible English. The quest can be found in it's original language on Markus's Homepage at http://linux.fh-heilbronn.de/~sandberg

There were several places where I could not understand the translation that Babelfish spit out, so I inserted my own comments in square brackets []. These were not in Markus's original quest - I have placed them as an attempt to make up for the deficiencies of the translation program.

This quest uses figures from several Milton Bradley quest packs. Markus says that they were available in Against the Ogre Hordes. I don't have this quest pack, but they were available in the Barbarian Quest Pack. I have found some board overlays on the web and resized them, since I did not have the ones he used. If you do not have these figures, here are some conversions:

Halberdiers - Fimirs
Scouts - Goblins
Crossbowmen - Orcs
Swordsmen - Chaos Warriors

If you are using Orcs for Crossbowmen, you may want to give them crossbows along with their regular weapons.

Or you can use Chaos Warriors for all of these figures.

Please note that occasionally some of the icons on the maps are different colors. This signifies nothing; it was done to clear up the printing of the maps on black & white printers.

Quest Introduction - To Be Read To The Players Before At The Start Of The Quest Pack:

Many years ago a priest named Siegman went on a holy pilgrimage to the Landing of the Gods. Legend has it that the Landing of the Gods is where the gods first came into the world to create all that lives. While on his journey, the god Hasgar appeared to Siegman in a dream, commanding him to build a temple to honor Hasgar. When Siegman awoke he found a powerful Amulet, a gift from Hasgar. Siegman used the Amulet as a sign to gain followers for Hasgar and support for the temple.

Siegman oversaw the construction of the temple, and was made high priest. After his death, Siegman was solemnly buried in the temple along with the Amulet, and his tomb is a considered a holy shrine.

You arrive in town hungry, tired, and thirsty, but have a hard time finding a meal and a place to spend the night. The annual festival celebrating the appearance of Hasgar to Sigma is going on and the city is crowded with celebrants. After searching in vain for a place to say, you spot several priests who allow you to stay in their rooms. After a good meal in the priests' dormitory you thankfully fall asleep, looking forward to sharing the celebration with the priests on the morrow.
