Printing and Creating Quest Books and Instruction Booklets

1. Open the .pdf containing the Quest Book or Instruction Booklet you want to print with Adobe Acrobat Reader. Then go to File and then Print.

2. Select your printer. It is recommended to use a A3 printer. Printing on A4 will result in smaller booklets that may be hard to read.

3. Under "Print Range", in the "Subset:" drop-down meny, select "Odd pages only".

4. If your printer can print A3, skip to 5. If you are printing A4, set "Page Scaling" to "Fit to Printable Area." Then press OK to print.

5. If you are printing A4, skip to 6. If you are printing A3, set "Page Scaling" to "None" and in "Page Setup..." set "Size:" to "A3 297 x 420 mm" Then press OK to print.

IMPORTANT: Now your printer are printing the odd pages of the booklet and when the printer are done with all pages you are going to flip and rotate the pages and load the printer again with the same paper. Therefore it is important that you do not mess with the order the pages are printed out. Let the printer finnish without touching anything and then proceed to 6.

6. When all odd pages have been printed you will need to flip and rotate the printed pages and then load the printer again. This might vary between printers but basicly you want to print on the empty side of the papers. This is the only hard part when printing a booklet so to get it right I would suggest to print a small booklet first and perhaps even in black and white to save some printer inc. When you get a hang of how to rotate and flip the pages to get it right you can go ahead and print those big booklets.

7. Go to File and then Print again.

8. This time, choose "Even pages only" and print using the same settings as last time.

9. Take all your printed papers and fold them in half.

10. Cut the white borders with a paper cutter or a scissor.

11. Staple the booklet in the middle to create a foldable booklet.

Printing and Creating Cards

1. Open the .pdf containing the Cards you want to print with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

2. Go to File and then Print.

3. Select your printer.

4. Under "Print Range", in the "Subset:" drop-down meny, select "Odd pages only".

5. Press OK to print. When the print is done, go to your printer and flip all the pages.

6. Follow the same steps as above but change the "Subset:" drop-down meny, select "Even pages only" this time. Then press OK to print.

7. Cut out your cards using a paper cutter or a pair of scissors.

8. Use a corner-trimmer to cut the corners of the cards.

Printing and Creating Tiles

3. Select your printer.

4. Press OK to print.

5. Cut out the Tiles using a paper-cutter or a pair of scissors.

6. Glue them to a piece of cardboard or something similar. You can also buy Self Adhesive A4 Paper and stick them on a piece of cardboard, that way you dont need to work with some messy glue and your paper wont wrinkle from the glue.

What Materials and Equipment Can I Use?:

Booklets: 100gms Printing Paper
A bit thicker than normal because the colors bleeds through too much on thinner paper.

Cards: Xerox Premium NeverTear A4 270My/368gms (Can only be used with Laser Printers)
This paper is exactly the same thickness as the cards in HeroQuest and they also have the same stiffness pretty much. I have tried over 15 different paper brands and this is the best I have found.

Tiles Print: Seawhite Gloss Self-Adhesive A4Photo Paper 120gms
No messy glue needed.

Tiles Cardboard: 1mm Passe-Partout
1mm is the same thickness as the tiles in HeroQuest.

Paper Cutter: Dahle 560
For nice clean cuts when cutting of the white edges on booklet prints.

Corner Rounder: 4mm Paper Punch
For that professional rounded corner look on cards.
